Bella Hexal 35 is mainly used for women who need contraception and also require treatment for moderate to severe acne, oily skin, or unwanted hair growth (hirsutism) caused by high levels of male hormones (androgens). It is not intended for use solely as a contraceptive.
Bella Hexal 35 prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation (the release of an egg), thickening cervical mucus to block sperm, and changing the womb lining to prevent a fertilised egg from implanting. The cyproterone acetate in the pill also blocks the effects of androgens, helping to reduce acne and excessive hair growth.
The usual dose is one tablet once a day, taken at the same time each day for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break with no tablets. After the break, start the next pack, even if your period has not finished.
It may take at least 3 months of regular use to notice improvements in acne or unwanted hair. For contraception, effectiveness starts with the first cycle if taken as directed.
If you miss a tablet, take it as soon as you remember within 12 hours. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed tablet, continue as normal, and use extra contraception (such as condoms) for the next 7 days.
